I am dedicated to promoting traditional Chinese culture(especially the Yao and Han culture) in communities, schools, and my hometown. I aim to let more people understand and appreciate traditional culture.

My Experiences

The Yao culture

I am proudly a member of the Yao ethnic minority in China. (Yao people concentrated in the Yao Town in Guangxi Province in
China) The matrilineal traditions, folk songs, and the vibrant stories woven into the Yao embroidery are essential elements
that have shaped my identity.

Spearheaded the Yao Embroidery Cultural Exhibition in Shanghai at the Tsinghua Human Settlements Art Museum in Shanghai

My role…

–Oversaw the exhibit layout and supervised the display setup
–Designed promotional posters

Contributions and outcomes…
–Led guided tours and told the stories behind the artworks.
–Introduced the Yao embroidery to 300+ attendees, from Chinese and French artists to working families and entrepreneurs
–Expanded marketing and revenue channels for the Yao artisans in hometown
–Forged new connections and invited shared conversations between Yao Town in Guangxi Province and the city of Shanghai

–The initiative gained recognition from the local Yao government and Shanghai media, amplifying my exhibit’s reach.

Learned Yao Embroidery, and Sold Artisanal Yao Embroidery Products at School’s Club Fair

I went to the Yao Town to visit some professional Yao artisans and learn how their embroidery work from them.
I also brought Yao embroidery artistry into schools and promoted them on campus. The initiative showcased the culture to a wider audience, and created income for the artisans by selling their craftsmanship.

Learned the Traditional Yao Folk Songs

I have learned the traditional Yao folk songs, and still I practice them today.
The Yao traditional folk songs are living archive to record the Yao marriage, welcoming culture and lifestyles in modern life.

The Han culture

The Han group occupy the majority of China’s population. Yet, some customs and handicraft are fading under rapid pace of
modernization. I try proactively to make more people realize the charm of those old culture.

I founded the Cultural Interaction Club to increase the awareness of traditional Chinese culture by organizing workshops to I also held small Saloons and lectures to discuss some sociology and anthropology-related topics.
